Facebook Advertising
Since 2009 I have been advertising on Facebook.
A few things I’ve noticed:
1. Facebook is trying to improve its interface for advertisers consistently, with a big change every 4-6 months.
2. The prices of a Facebook ad has skyrocketed. (I ran the exact same campaign in 2009 and again in 2011. Price per click in 2009 for an ad targeting college males : 15 cents to 20 cents. 2011 cost: $1.10 a click.
3. Facebook’s population is huge, its not just teens and college age people. Try advertising to the unexpected demographic and you will find cheap clicks. There is a population on Facebook for nearly anything.
4. The Facebook Advertising market has a low barrier to entry, but to do it right… that takes considerable experience.
5. Positive ROI E-commerce is possible. It just takes more experience to do right.
What software options are there to produce and upload YouTube videos?
Basic video with nice transitions: Animoto.
It looks like you are searching for Animoto.com. http://animoto.com/ has the abilities you asked for, and the video is easily uploaded to YouTube.
As for metadata, if you are posting the video to YouTube, you need to think about 3 sections; the title, the tags, and the description. A possible fourth is a transcript, as that text is indexed by Google.
The title should be relevant, and have high search volume, with medium to low competition. To find the search volume, look at Google AdWords Keyword Tool. To find competition, look at SEOQuake (plugin for Firefox) for number of links to each page. I say medium to low as you are working with the domain of youtube.com, which has hundreds of thousands of links.
Next is the tags, those are again keywords that are relevant to the video, and are ordered by search volume.
Description: what is the call to action you want your viewers to see? Also if the video is seen outside of the channel, the description is not shown unless the viewer clicks the drop down arrow. You have about 25 characters to make your point. Additional details can follow.
If you are embedding the video, then MRSS is the way to go.

Why don’t my Facebook Advertising reports match my targeted interests?
Why don’t my Facebook Advertising reports match my targeted interests?
If you are referring to Page Insights, which shows the demographics of individuals who liked your Page, perhaps you have a different audience on Facebook than you originally thought..
Another possibility, if you are targeting specific ages with your ads, and your ads have many Connections, then your Page demographics should shift to fit that targeted group. Again you would have to first displace the first population to shift that population, as its a ratio
What is the Difference
What is the difference (broad match SEO value) = 9,140,000
Exact match: 1,900
In other words, there are millions of searches using this long phrase with even more words. Exact search is very, very low so we are looking at an extensive list of keywords of great length.
I would also expect significant trending. If you are to attempt it, please account for the inconsistency of the terms.
Creating a new custom tab on a Facebook Page
How can I create a new Fan custom tab?
I believe you are looking for how to create a LikeGate. This is a function of an application that stops the user from further action until they have Liked the Page. To create one, you have to set up an application. The code used for these pages is fairly simple, and you should be able to find an example that you can use online.
A great resource for LikeGates: http://www.sayitsocial.com/blog/2010/12/how-to-like-gate-your-facebook-page/
And that is How can I create a new Fan custom tab!
Can I target a Facebook ad by religion
Can I target a Facebook ad by religion?
You can, in a different way…
If you are interested in Buddhists, I would target Buddha, Zen, popular Buddhist books etc. Religious holidays are also good fit if they are specific, for example Christmas is celebrated by non-Christians.
You cannot directly advertise to a particular religion; however you can target things that directly relate to that group.
.co is a generic ccTLD
So that is a confusing little nugget of information…
.co since it is sold often as a company domain, so its not treated like the other ccTLDs. Even though its the domain for the country of Columbia.
So the question of duplicate content and the apparent lack of a rule if there is content on multiple domains gives the rise to an interesting question….
Lets say you have Spanish content, on .co and .com. Does it both rank? Or not?
Curiouser and curiouser!
Search Engine Optimization SEO
My thoughts on online marketing usually take me two directions.
1. SEO
2. Facebook Advertising
Why?
Well back in the day I was an economics student, I strived to find the answer to the black box that is economics. I wanted to make my mark by relieving unemployment, increasing the value of our fiat money and turn the economy on its head.
….
Eventually I found that economists are about theory and few actually are professional economists who make an impact. There is an old economics joke that is truely fitting.
Politician to HR : ” I’ll never hire an economist with two hands.”
HR: Why is that?
Politician to HR : “Because I’m tired of them telling me .. on the other hand…”
That is an apt summary for my economics education. Lots of estimation using estimated numbers based on estimates. Did I find my answer? No. So I turned to the most applicable form of business, marketing. Did that switch change my desire for the answer? No. It just changed the question.
Do I want to “break” Google? (/Bing/Yahoo/Baidu?)
Yes*.
*At my work, I am always 100% whitehat. ALWAYS. There is no question.
